Allen Fanning Scores An Albatross

Allen Fanning scores an Albatross

On Sunday afternoon, 13th December, a round of Sevens Golf turned out to be a six million to one shot Albatross (also known as a Double Eagle) on the 10th hole at Gove Country Golf Club.

This is a very rare event on the golf course as only 56 Double Eagles were made on the US PGA Tour between 1983 and 2003. There has never been any more than six in one year on the Tour.

“The 10th hole is 442m long. I hit my drive to approximately 180m from the green. I pulled out my 3 rescue hybrid and hit it sweet. The ball landed within 8 foot of the pin and rolled in to the hole much to the amazement of all of us. I was glad that other people saw this rarity,” said Allen Fanning.

Congratulations Allen, the feat is also a first for a Sevens Golf competitor!
