Bribie Island GC - Grand Final Report

Bribie Island GC - Grand Final Report

Bar Flies take on The Latchers in the Grand Final for Winter 2010.  Let's take a look at how they line up...

The match predictor says that the Grand Final Match is just too close to call with The Latchers having a slightly better average score of 76.32 per match, compared to the Bar FLies at 74.21.  However, the Bar Flies have lost just 2 matches all season, compared to 5 losses for The Latchers, which is why the decider will be anyone's guess.

Both sides have got proven strikers, with Lawrence Richards leading The Latchers scoring at a very impressive 21.41 average, while Bar Flies have got Liz Jarvis scoring at a 19.21 average, albeit a full two points lower.  But if no one player plays an extraordinary round this week, the match could well be decided by the depth of scoring.  Bar Flies have four players scoring at more than 18 points per week plus a fifth at 17.67, while The Latchers have only three averaging more than 18, and their fifth best player has an average score of 16.14.

The sides can't be split on commitment, with all seven players on both teams having played at least 14 games.  Both teams have two players that have played more than 20.

The handicaps for both teams are also not able to be split, with both sides having one single figure marker, Mick Litovkin (7) for Bar Flies, and Ron Bartel (5) for The Latchers.  Both teams have also got 4 players above a 40 handicap, the result of great recruiting by their respective captains.

All in all, you would have to be happy to sit on the fence for this one and watch it all unfold as picking a winner will come down to a coin flip.

Individually last week;

Round 19 - 31 rounds were returned with 7 Balls rewarded to players on 19 points or higher.  Jude O'Laughlin held nothing back for the Grand Final, playing the game in the spirit that it is meant to be played, as he recorded 25 points for the win.  Barry Muir, Dave Murray and Lawrence Richards did likewise as they all scored 21.  Sue Tailford had a happy final round of the regular season with a score of 19 points, as did Wally Nelson and Barrie Warwick.

Also don't forget to check out how many rounds you have played, as 20 will give you an entry into the draw for a $7,000 travel voucher.  You have until this Sunday August 8th to get your rounds up, so make sure you get out to the course before this Sunday.

Don't be left only a few rounds shy of what could be worth $7,000!
