The Big question with 7 rounds remaining is can The Happy Hackers force their way into the Grand Final?
The Happy Hackers had a cruisy win over the now non-existant Local Pro's side, 76-0. Sheena McDonald, Glennis Muir, Luanne Armstead and Laureen Healy all played very good games to score 19 points in the win, with Sue Tailford backing up with 16 points if needed. One would think that Happy Hackers will have to beat both Bar Flies and The Latchers over the final weeks if they are to be able to have a shot of getting in the final. Bar Flies had another big win, this time over The Committee 86-65, while The Latchers scored a 74-62 victory over Mag Seven.
Individually over the past two weeks;
Round 11 - 30 rounds were returned with 7 Balls rewarded to players on 18 points or higher. Laureen Healy was first past the post with a top score of 22 points. Catherine McCoy was next best with 20 points, while Robyn Liggins scored 19 points along with Tyneal Smart, showing that the girls can really mix it with the boys.
Round 12 - 30 rounds were returned with 4 balls rewarded to players on 20 points or better. Liz Jarvis top scored with a very impressive 26 points while Lawrence Richards came in second best with 22.
Player of the Year
Male - Lawrence Richards has opened up a sizeable lead in the men's section with 74 POTY points accrued so far. Jude O'Laughlin has moved into second position on 48 POTY points which is one ahead of Barry Muir.
Female - Liz Jarvis continues to lead after 12 rounds on 51 POTY points. Her 26 points last week netting her 10 points for the win. Catherine McCoy has moved into second spot on 47 POTY points are is being shadowed by Tyneal Smart on 46 and Glennis Muir on 45.
POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts. Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.
Biggest Loser
Male - We can safely rule out Lawrence Richards for the Biggest Loser award as he is a short priced favourite to take out the Player of the Year. This means that Barry Muir is leading with a 15 shot reduction, followed by Jude O'Loughlin with 9 and Albert Crameri on 6.
Female - Glennis Muir and Tyneal Smart are joint leaders on a 10 shot reduction, closely followed by Liz Jarvis on 9 shots.
Round 13 Draw:
This week's match of the round has to be between 2nd placed The Latchers and 3rd placed The Happy Hackers. As reported earlier, the Happy Hackers will probably need to win this game if they are to have a shot at making the Grand Final between the top 2 sides at the end of the competition in just 7 weeks time.
1 - Bar Flies vs 4 - Mag Seven
5 - The Committee vs 3 - Local Pros
6 - The Latchers vs 2 - The Happy Hackers ***Match of the Round***
Good Luck to all teams over the next two weeks.
