Bribie Island GC - June 1st Update

After 10 Rounds in the inaugural Sevens Competition at Bribie Island Golf Club, Bar Flies continue to lead from the front.

They are obviously spending more time on the course than in the bar at the moment with another strong 88-71 victory over The Happy Hackers, who would have been happy with their score despite not winning the match. Barry Muir continues to improve, scoring 25 points for Bar Flies, and was joined by Jude O'Loughlin 22, Liz Jarvis 21 and Mick Rawlinson 20 in making up the total.

The Latcher's had a massive win over Local Pro's who failed to show, 86-0. Tyneal Smart led the Latcher's out of the blocks with 24 points, followed by Catherine McCoy 23, Lawrence Richards 22 and Ron Bartel 17.

Individually over the past two weeks;

Round 9 - 21 rounds were returned with 9 Balls rewarded to players on 18 points or higher. Lawrence Richards continued his rapid improvement in scoring 29 points. Liz Jarvis and Laureen Healy both played great golf to finish with 21 points, while Catherine McCoy scored a high 20 points.

Round 10 - 29 rounds were returned with 7 balls rewarded to players on 21 points or better. Barry Muir lead the way with 25 points, followed by Tyneal Smart 24 and Catherine McCoy 23.

Player of the Year

Male - Lawrence Richards has opened up a lead in the men's section with 65 POTY points accrued so far. Barry Muir is in second position on 44 POTY points.

Female - Liz Jarvis is the leader after 10 rounds in the female section on 41 POTY points. Glennis Muir, Penny Lambley and Tyneal Smart are very close behind on 39 POTY points.

POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts. Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.

Biggest Loser

Male - Lawrence Richards leads on a massive 25 shot reduction in handicap but will most liekly be ruled out if he wins the Player of the Year. Barry Muir is next best with a 14 shot reduction, followed by Jude O'Loughlin with 8 and Albert Crameri on 6.

Female - Glennis Muir leads on a 10 shot reduction, closely followed by Tyneal Smart on 9 shots and Luanne Armstead on 8 shots.

Round 11 Draw:

This week's match of the round has to be between 1st placed Bar Flies and 2nd placed The Latcher's. Both sides have plenty of scoring firepower and the match could be decided between Bar Flies strike weapon, Barry Muir, and The Latchers tour de force, Lawrence Richards, although both teams have a deep line-up as evidenced by their 80+ scores last week.
