The 2010 season continues with Wackapacka's scoring an unbeleivable 81-80 win over Kantrimin in Round 13...
In Division 1, Wackapacka's continue to lead the way after a stunning 81-80 victory over Kantrimin in Round 13. The match had class written all over it as the two sides went head to head in a classic encounter made all the more remarkable as Kantrimin fielded the minimum four players for the match. Noel Long (21pts), Ian Clark (20pts), Barry Baines (20pts) and Tom Perkins (19pts) were the four players for Kantrimin and made up their total of 80. Wackapacka's were determined though to remain in a clear lead at the top of the ladder as they countered with Glenn Molloy (22pts), George Oxton (20pts), Diane Oxton (20pts) and Warren Chapman (19pts) for a total of 81. Fair Cracks have got themselves organised and continue to make a charge up the ladder, last week defeating Seven Up 76-67. Andy and Hugh Richardson combined to do the most damage for Fair Cracks with 22 and 21 points respectively. Nathan Campfield is also playing his way back into form with a solid 17 point score. IN the other matches, Trailer Park Boys 77 defeated The Managers 33, Bawombats 65 defeated DGC Grasscutters 0 and Load of Croc had the Bye.
In Division 2, a log jam is forming at the top with two team tied on 22 competition points, Kakadu Golf Tours and The Second Hole. Just one point behind in third place is Kakadu Hackers who are pressing for top position after defeating Sexy Seven 76-34 in Round 13 last week. Kakadu Golf Tours had an easy win over Misfits 69-0, while THe Second Hole weren't troubled by The Worm Burners in a 57-18 victory. Mystery Men kept themselves in touch with the Top 6 after defeating 40 Love, 31-0, while The Rubbles also had an easy win over NT Terror 61-0.
Individually over the past two weeks;
Round 12 - 97 scores were returned with 27 balls rewarded to players on 19 points or higher. Noel Murtagh came in with the best score of the round of 28 points and as a result of his recent improvement in form had his handicap reduced by a further 6 strokes to 31. Geoff Morris was also in great touch after recording an exellent score of 26. Diane Oxton and Wendy Schwerin found themselves at the top of hte ladies result sheet after impressive rounds of 21 points.
Round 13 - 90 scores were returned with 22 balls rewarded to players on 20 points or better. Bill Mullins had a superb day on the course to register a score of 25 points and take the winners prize by two shots from a fast finishing Scott Revie on 23. Tess Hennessey finished the round as the best placed of the ladies with a score of 22 points.
Player of the Year
Male - Noel Murtagh continues to lead after 13 rounds 78 POTY points. Geoff Morris has playd some solid golf over the last two weeks to jump into second spot on 41. George Oxton is not far away either, sitting on 37, as is Daniel Van Ras on 36.
Female - Nicole Curtis and Diane Oxton are now joint leaders on 39 POTY points after both players have a turn out in front so far this season. Julie Lynch is currently in third on 35, and Tess Hennessey is on 34.
POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts. Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.
Biggest Loser
Male - James Revie is out in front in the Biggest Loser standings on a 20 stroke reduction in handicap. Daniel Van Ras is close behind on a 19 shot reduction.
Female - Nicole Curtis is way out in front in the Biggest Loser standings for 2010 on a whopping 20 stroke reduction. Nicole will however be ineligible if she goes on to win the Player of the Year. Tess Hennessey is sitting in second spot on the standings as has reduced her handicap by a huge 9 shots.
Round 14 Draw:
This weeks match of the round in Division 1 is between first placed Wacka Packas and third placed Trailer Park Boys. Wacka Packas survived a scare last week over the seventh placed Kantrimin and this week will be another tough task against a side in form.
In Division 2, watch the match between second and fourth for some fireworks. The Second Hole play The Rubbles and while both teams won last week, neither scored big points and will be looking to improve this week.
