Darwin & Jabiru GC - Round 16 Update

We are into the final five weeks of Season 2010 with Wacka Packas out in front in Division 1 and three teams in Division 2 challenging for the lead...

In Division 1, Wacka Packas maintained their lead at the top of the ladder last week after defeating DGC Grasscutters 72-0.  The Managers have played themselves into a potential finals appearance defeating Fair Cracks 70-53 in Round 15.  Craig Meikle top scored for The Managers with 21 points.  Seven Up are in fourth position on the ladder courtesy of a 67-62 win over Kantrimin with Mark Holt top scoring in the match with 19 points.  Trailer Park Boys have made their intentions clear leading into the last month of the season, defeating second placed Load of Croc 83-79.  John Anderson led the way for Trailer park in scoring 22 points and was assisted by Linford Feick and Brett Foster who both scored 21 points and Benjamin Feick with 19.

In Division 2, Round 15 must have been time for some teams to take a holiday with many results to nil.  NT Terror and Mystery Men, despite being only a couple of wins outside the Top 6 played a 0-0 draw while 40 Love failed to score against the Second Hole.  Misfits also turned in a zero scoreline against The Worm Burners who managed to score 47 and get the win.  Fifth placed side The Rubbles also surprisingly failed to score in their match against Kakadu Hackers 69-0.  The only match to feature any decent scoring was between Kakadu Golf TOurs and Sexy Seven although Golf Tours won the match comfortably 85-40.  David and Nicole Curtis led Kakadu Golf Tours with distinction after producing rounds of 24 and 23 points respectively.  Tess Hennessey also played well to score 20, while John Bray rounded out the total with 18 points.

 

Individually over the past two weeks;

Round 14 - 97 scores were returned with 20 balls rewarded to players on 20 points or higher.  Juanita Holt produced the goods to claim first place in the weekly comp with 25 points.  Peader Byrne was also in red hot form and took out the runner-up placing with 24 points.  Nicole Curtis and Noel Murtagh again featured at the top end of the score sheet with 23 points each.

Round 15 - 65 scores were returned with 16 balls rewarded to players on 20 points or better.  David Curtis scored 24 points to finish at the top of the leaderboard for the round along with Noel Murtagh.  Nicole Curtis again showed the potential that she has in scoring 23 points.  John Anderson and Alan Morthen got around the course without too much trouble at all as they both returned scores of 22 points.

 

Player of the Year

Male - Noel Murtagh leads after 15 rounds 96 POTY points.  Geoff Morris is in second spot on 52.  George Oxton is in third on 47, while David Curtis now in contention on 46.

Female - Nicole Curtis has regained sole possession of the lead on 56 POTY points after some excellent golf over the past two weeks.  Diane Oxton sits in second spot on 47, while Tess Hennessey is third on 43.

POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts.  Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.

 

Biggest Loser

Male - James Revie is out in front in the Biggest Loser standings on a 20 stroke reduction in handicap.  Daniel Van Ras is close behind on a 19 shot reduction.

Female - Nicole Curtis is way out in front in the Biggest Loser standings for 2010 on a whopping 22 stroke reduction.  Nicole will however be ineligible if she goes on to win the Player of the Year.  Tess Hennessey is sitting in second spot on the standings amd has reduced her handicap by a huge 9 shots.  Juanita Holt is also improving her game and sits in third place on a 7 stroke reduction.

 

Round 16 Draw:

This weeks match of the round in Division 1 is between first placed Wacka Packa and second placed Load of Croc.

In Division 2, watch the match between fourth placed The WormBurners and sixth placed Sexy Seven with the winner all but cementing a spot in the Top 6 with a month of the season remaining.
