A top of the table clash in the Muggelton league last week was a feature at Parramatta Golf Club with over 100 scores returned for Round 6, while a team in the Featon League has played their way from the bottom of the ladder into the Top 4.
Cousin 'IT' and Family continue to lead the Muggleton League after 6 rounds, after winning a top of the table clash with Curley and the Bell Ringers 77-64. Parratactics were able to remove themselves from the bottom of the ladder with a 65-30 win over Masters. Hog Boys and Band of Brothers played out a 66-all draw with Hog Boys retaining thier position inside the top 4. Jamie Kennedey top scored for Hog Boys with 18 points, Todd Le Grand and Graeme Donaldson both scored 17 and George Wiggins struggled home with 14 points. Band of Brothers were not able to capitalise on John McGlinn's top score of 20 points, with Norman Young scoring a solid 18, then only George Oakes and Gordon Bailey were able to return 14 points, the rest of the side were M.I.A.
In the Featon League, Dirty 1/2 Dozen + a Pom continue to lead after an easy 65-48 win overRange Sluggers. Lucky 7 got away with a low scoring victory over Odd Fellows 64-61. The big movers though are The Domain Dodgers who have shot into fourth spot on the ladder after a convincing 77-48 win over Probians. Allan Skinner top scored for Domain Dodgers with 22 points and was assisted by Bradley Outzen with 20, Yolanda Gacho with 18, and Phillipa Wares with 17. Probians were only able to field three players with John Maker and Norman Bromley both scoring 17 points, with Lynn Paterson the only other team member to record a score with 14 points.
Individually over the past two weeks;
Round 5 - 90 scores were returned with 25 balls rewarded to players scoring 18 points or better. David Helliwell played very well to finish the winner on 23 points. Mark Li, Paul Taylor and Ken Farley all showed very good form to score 22 points each. Nerida Francisco was the top female golfer of the round with 21 points.
Round 6 - 108 scores were returned with 24 balls rewarded to players that scored 18 points or better. David Helliwell seems to have struck a rich vein of form and again led the field home, this time with 22 points. He didn't have it all his own way though with Allan Skinner also top scoring with 22 points. Sonia Molina top scored for the women with 21 points.
Player of the Year
Male - Phillip Wilding now leads the men's section with 34 POTY points accrued so far. David Helliwell (33 POTY pts) and Ken Farley (32 POTY pts) are very close behind.
Female - Sonia Molina has opened up a gap after 6 rounds in the female section on 26 POTY points. Kristine Baker and Carol Wilding are on 17 POTY points and in equal second position. A couple of good rounds from any of the girls could see them leap frog to the top of the points table.
POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts. Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.
Biggest Loser
Male - Bigyan Chand still leads on a 9 shot reduction in handicap but has been joined by Phillip Wilding and Derek Everton. Richard Howard and Ian Herring are one shot further back on an 8 shot reduction.
Female - Janice Quintas leads on a 7 shot reduction and has now been joined by Sonia Molina. They are followed by Kristine Baker, Mavis Earl, Vena Kennedey and Julie Outzen on 4 shots.
Round 7 Draw:
This week in the Muggleton League, 2nd plays 4th with Curley and the Bell Ringers taking on Hog Boys. A similar situation in the Featon league with 2nd placed Wild Things playing 4th placed The Domain Dodgers. Both should be very well constested games.
