Parramatta GC - June 1st Update

The rain caused havoc at Parramatta Golf Club last week with just 56 scores returned in the big wet.

Cousin 'IT' and family lead the Muggleton League after 4 rounds, with a cruisy 72-43 win over Master last week.  Ken Farley top scored for Cousin 'IT' with 19 points and the team sheet also featured Derek Everton and Graham Wilson with 18 points each and David Helliwell with 17.  The Gotcha's made a move into fourth spot on the ladder thanks to an 80-0 win over Band of Brothers.  Phillip Ward top scored for Gotcha's with 23 points, while Chuck Fuller top scored with 23 points for Curley and the Bell Ringers in thier 73-35 win over Fabio's.

In the Featon League, Dirty 1/2 Dozen + a Pom had an easy 80-0 win over Probians who had decided to stay indoors for the week.  Allan Reade scored 22 for Dirty followed by Rickie Griffen with 21, Malcolm Smith 19 and Anthony Knutsen 18.  Wild Things were lucky to beat Lucky 7 after both sides fielded just three out of seven players for the round.  Wild Things moved into third position on the ladder on for and against after the 55-45 victory.

Individually over the past two weeks;

Round 3 - 71 scores were returned with 14 balls rewarded to players scoring 20 points or better.  David Cox played strongly to finish the winner on 24 points.  Ian Herring and Phillip Wilding both showed very good form to score 23 points each.  Sonia Molina was the first female golfer past the post with 20 points.

Round 4 - 56 scores were returned with 10 balls rewarded to players that scored 20 points or better.  Phillip Ward led the field home with 23 points in damp conditions, followed closely by Allan Reade with 22.  Sonia Molina top scored for the women for the second week running with 20 points.

Player of the Year

Male - David Cox and Ian Herring are joint leaders the men's section with 22 POTY points accrued so far.  Richard Howard and Phillip Wilding are close behind on 20 POTY points.

Female - Kristine Baker and Sonia Molina are joint leaders after 4 rounds in the female section on 13 POTY points.  Julie Outzen and Mavis Earl are just one point back on 12 POTY points.

POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts.  Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.

Biggest Loser

Male - Bigyan Chand still leads on a 9 shot reduction in handicap but has been joined by David Cox and Ian Herring.  Richard Howard and Derek Everton are one shot further back on an 8 shot reduction.

Female - Janice Quintas leads on a 7 shot reduction, closely followed by Kristine Baker on 6 shots and Mavis Earl on 5 shots.  Sonial Molina is the big mover after dropping 4 shots in the last two weeks.

Round 5 Draw:

This week in the Muggleton League, 2nd placed Curley & the Bell Ringers come up against 4th placed The Gotcha's in the match of the round.  In the Featon League, a classic encounter between 1st placed Dirty 1/2 Dozen + a Pom and 2nd placed Lucky 7 has the competition leaders starting slight favourites.
