Parramatta GC - June 28th Update

Dirty Half Dozen + a Pom lead in the Featon League at the Parramatta Golf Club...

In the Featon League, Dirty 1/2 Dozen + a Pom continue to lead after a 75-67 win over Wild Things. Malcolm Smith led the side home with 21 points and also in the mix was Anthony Knutson 19, Rickie Griffen 18 and Mark Li 17.  Lucky 7 toppled The Domain Dodgers 70-50 with Betty Howard and Mavis Earl top scoring for Lucky 7 with 18 points each.  They were backed up by Elaine Walker and Kristine Baker with 17 points.  The Probians defeated Range Sluggers 71-60 with Norman Bromley 19 and Douglas Rose the shining lights for Probians.  In the last match, Phuckers defeated Odd Fellows 69-0.

Cousin 'IT' and Family continue to lead the Muggleton League after 8 rounds despite being defeated by The Gotcha's 78-75 last week.  Geoffrey Brown and William Bills were in fine form for The Gotcha's and both scored 20 points.  They were matched when David Helliwell and Graeme Wilson both returned 20 point scores for Cousin 'IT'.  However, The Gotcha's were able to pull away with their next best two scores coming from Brian Mills (19pts) and James Williams (19pts), outscoring the efforts from Tony Ealr (18) and Derek Everton (17) for Cousin 'IT'.  There was also a close game last week between Fabio's and Hog Boys with Hog Boys coming out on top 74-69.  Tearo Steer top scored in the match with 23 points for Fabio's but the rest of the team couldn't lend enough support to their front man with Graham Muldoon the only other player to score at least 18.  Jamie Kennedy and Graeme Donaldson set up the win for Hog Boys with 20 points a piece and were backed up by Todd Le-Grand (18) and George Wiggins (16).  Band of Brothers scored a good win over Parratactics 65-41, Curley and the Bell Ringers defeated Masters 75-20 in the other two matches.

 

Individually over the past two weeks;

Round 7 - 112 scores were returned with 32 balls rewarded to players scoring 18 points or better.  Geoffrey Brown finished the week on top with 22 points.  Anthony Knutson, Bigyan Chand and Graeme Donaldson all played awesome golf to finish with 21 points.  Mavis Earl, Yolanda Gacho and Carol Wilding all tied for the best womens score of the week with 20 points.

Round 8 - 103 scores were returned with 20 balls rewarded to players that scored 19 points or better.  Tearo Steer was the best player for the round with 23 points, closely followed by David Dawes with a great score of 22.  Yolanda Gacho played well in a beaten side with the top ladies score of 21 points.

Player of the Year

Male - Phillip Wilding and David Helliwell are the joint leaders in the men's section with 48 POTY points accrued so far.  Anthony Knutson (42), Ken Farley (41) and Ian Herring (40) are all well within striking distance.

Female - Sonia Molina leads in the female section on 32 POTY points.  Mavis Earl has climbed into second position on 29 POTY points after some solid scores over the last two weeks.  Yolanda Gacho and Kristine Baker loom as threats over the coming weeks and both sit on 27 POTY points.

POTY Points will be awarded as follows: Based on the players best score for the week only. The highest individual score each week is awarded 10 POTY points, for every shot scored below the highest individual score, 1 point is deducted. i.e. Best individual score for the week is 26 – every player with 26 as their best score earns 10 POTY pts, 25pts – players earn 9 POTY pts, 23pts – players earn 7 POTY pts…….. 17pts – players earn 1 POTY pt, 16pts and below – zero (0) POTY pts.  Pre-Season, Mid-Season and Finals Rounds are excluded from the Player of the Year calculation.

Biggest Loser

Male - Bigyan Chand leads on an 11 shot reduction in handicap. Ian Herring and Phillip Wilding are still right in the mix on a 9 shot reduction.  Richard Howard, Derek Everton, Jamie Kennedy and David Dawes are one shot further back on an 8 shot reduction.

Female - Janice Quintas leads on a 7 shot reduction with Sonia Molina having added two strokes back onto her handicap over the last fortnight, to be on a 5 shot reduction along with Mavis Earl.  They are followed by Kristine Baker, Vena Kennedey and Julie Outzen on 4 shots.

Round 9 Draw:

This week in the Muggleton League, The Gotcha's and Hog Boys meet in the match of the round.  Both teams are fresh of good wins, and both are in the all important Top 4.  In the Featon League, the match to watch will be between The Probians and Phuckers with the winner most likely to hold down a Top 4 position, and with just 4 weeks remaining until the finals, a Top 4 position is gold.
